Artist Statement
The principal characteristics of my paintings are the clear patches of colour without outlines, with acrylic on canvas. Reduced figures in an undefined space. The figures are shown in front of a unified, homogeneous backround, engaged in ordinary, carefree activites. Besides the figures there are only a few additional elements on the picture that offer, reference to the environment.
I'd like my paintings to be interpreted both as individual visual experiences and as abstract pictures. I'd like them to be easily recognizable and remarkable.
I would like people to imagine their own stories behind my composed scenes.
I usually use photos that I took. First – using a computer program – I mark out the details of the photo that I find interesting, zoom in and zoom out, and I make a montage of them. I draw the outlines of this picture on the canvas, and then colour the patches.
